Does Your Skin Need a Little Brushing?

My sister is so diligent about brushing her dog’s coat every, single day. So then I think to myself, what about humans? Granted, we may not have any hair on our arms, shoulders and legs to comb out, well, most of us don’t; but we do have skin cells that could use a little grooming.

Skin cells slough off about every 28 days for an average adult. The replication process slows with age. For an older person, it may take between 40-56 days for the epidermis to completely be replaced. Whether it’s 1 month or 6 weeks, that’s 19 million cells being replaced consistently. No wonder there’s so much dust.

Dry skin brushing is the practice of helping disembark those dead skin cells. The skin benefits and so does the lymphatic system. There is a specific way to perform this ritual, and you only need one tool, a natural bristle brush.
