Healthy New Year Tip

As we reflect on 2011 and begin to focus on what the coming 2012 might look like, we should make sure to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished and recognize positive changes.

I started writing the “Healthy Tip of the Week” on June 1st this year and although there are many things to implement, just becoming aware of these ideas and practicing just one new thing has made you a healthier person.

Here are some ideas to help you become aware. Take time alone to notice how you feel. When you drive, notice if you feel tired, angry, sad or have pain. What do you think contributed to these sensations? Slow down when you eat and notice how you feel after a meal. Think about the conversation you’re having with dinner, is it enjoyable and relaxing while supporting digestion? Or is it upsetting you? Read about health. Educate yourself often and implement what is easy. As you shop, read labels, think about the quality of what you’re purchasing. Keep notes. People who keep a food diary become very aware of what they put in their mouth. You can journal about food, symptoms or emotions. All of these suggestions will help you become more aware and support your health.
