I’ve always been a great supporter of whole food vitamins and supplements (not to be confused with the store) because they come from plants and are not chemically synthesized the way most supplements are produced. A company that I have always been a fan of is New Chapter, because their products predominantly come from whole plant substances and several products were organic.
An amazing patient of mine that keeps up with so much of the news, informed me that last week New Chapter was purchased by Proctor and Gamble. Given that I’ve been talking about GMO and Monsanto for the last two weeks, the timing of this company purchase was unknowingly appropriate. The reason is Proctor and Gamble is a Monsanto-linked company. Proctor and Gamble share the same top shareholders as Monsanto, and Proctor and Gamble’s CFO is on the board of director’s at Monsanto company. It’s not only a tragedy that Monsanto has been involved with food production for many years, but now they may have also influence production with a once-great supplement company. 5,500 publications nationwide shared the article that Monsanto was listed as the worst company of 2011.
My tip for this week is if you like New Chapter supplements, buy what you can now before their supplements contain genetically modified organisms. Meanwhile, I will be putting together a post about why whole food supplements are superior to others and a list of companies that you may want to consider purchasing from in the future.
